That Sudden Spur

Today was one of those fantastic days where I felt a huge urge to pick up a pencil and a paintbrush and paint what ever I wanted! Not because I had to, but because i WANTED to!
Of course the contents of my mind spill out onto paper in the form of pugs and giraffes, which are always on the brain. I also decided to actually characterise myself in my most natural habitat; oversized jumpers and cups of tea galore.

I found myself getting bored with my dot-eye style and attempting the moon-size disney eyes and silly googley eyes. But I did resort back to my Anita Jeram style dots that seem to bring a sort of endearing atmosphere to my drawings.
After finishing another commission on Friday, I realised how unhappy I was with the final piece. There was no style, no recognisable element that could easily distinct it from other imaged. It was boring.

This is, I think, what sparked my motivation today. Drawing all these different random images and trying hard to give them that distinctive gen-style. Practising my pugs in various positions and stylising my giraffes.
I just feel so satisfied to have drawn a few things completely randomly for the first time in a long time.
